I noticed that rating too when I was reading through their BSP reviews and thought WTF? I still don’t see much of U2 in BSP, but then I haven’t listened to that particular disc.

I came across this page after Pitchfork themselves referenced their u.2 rating in a review today. I searched for it because I thought it was clever and while I don’t know the band they reviewed, I’m sure they were U2-esque. This was conveyed by the “u.2″ rating, which meant that since I don’t really love u2, I probably wouldn’t love this band’s disc. Simple. Direct. Smart.

For some reason, this first dude is now having a “sad day” because of the pitchfork rating, and this other guy loves Jimmy Eat World, who Pitchfork do NOT love, and so he hates Pitchfork. The obvious answer is: hahahahahahahahhaaa you guys are really retarded.

last week i saw the german band Raemonn in london— they sang everything in english too despite some shouts from the crowd like – ’sing was auf deustche’… the band was quite medeorcre… i was surprised when some german friends said they were quite big in germany…

that aside:

i agree with the first theory- perhaps english lends itself better to song – maybe also because of its history – it is a mix of more languages and dialects than any other – from being a west germanic language- to its infusions with old norse, celtic, frisian, saxon, and the latter metamorphosis into anglo-norman and borrowings from french… (gallo roman- langues d’oil)… lest we forget modern colonial borrowings from african and eastern languages… no wonder it reaches father across the world than any other language

besides, people are becoming more n more multilingual by the day in this globalised world…

i wish they had just left ‘we’re so starving” off the album… i mean yes the album is totally different, and unlike “a fever…” the sound isn’t some terribly new, but the songs are still really catchy and the hooks are infectious. however, opening up with “we’re so starving” is just a bit off-putting… no, patd you’re not the same. that’s not to say bad, but you’re no longer p!atd… you’re now patd. don’t try and fool us.

Fuck Pitchfork. No, really. Fuck them right in the ear.

I lost all respect for them when they gave Jimmy Eat World’s Chase This Light a shitty review. Apparently it’s a cardinal fucking sin to have any kind of honesty, enthusiasm or sincerity in your music.

I really don’t have anything else to say other than more sexual references to Pitchfork’s auditory organs.

Seriously. I LOATHE Pitchfork.
